Took a little road trip to an old farmhouse...
And there was a quirky memory or story
hidden in every dusty corner!
The owners of the home told us about their mother's button box.
I know you all remember your mother's,
grandmother's or even great grandmother's!
Such a beautiful tradition to keep one...
At first, I saw all the mother of pearl buttons.
"They're a dime a dozen!"
But then...
A shoe heel?
A baby's diaper safety pin?
Belt buckles, earring backs, goofy springs!
And Jack's bean from the old tale, Jack and the Beanstalk!
This farmer's wife was the overall repairer and the garden tender...
How amazing :)
I remember as a little girl being allowed to play with my grandmothers buttons and I know there were all sorts of things in that box that had nothing to do with buttons. How I wish I had that button box now!!

ReplyDeleteSweet post! Awesome button box!!
ReplyDeleteJust stopping by to say Happy Birthday! The bean in the last photo is a Sea Bean ( that is what my grandmother called them) and they are good luck. She always had one in her purse.

I wonder what would happen if you planted Jack's bean . . . maybe something magical!
