My Crafty Friends!

Today I was listing a few of my vintage clip on earring pairs on Etsy...
and my cat Tippy decided to stop by.
I love cats, BUT they are mischievous little creatures!

Then I needed a way to display dangling earrings...
That's where my favorite porcelain giraffe, Avery, came in.
Avery is a family name...
When I was coming up with a name for my business I automatically thought:
Avery Hill.
Later my grandfather told me that my great-great-great-great(?)
grandmother used to head her letters in quill & ink
as Avery Hill.

*goosebumps!*

These are the earrings left over that are not in pairs...
What should I do with them? :)

I hope you have had an awesome weekend!

Vintage Clip On Earrings!

I found these earrings once, but I only saw the fronts...

and then I saw they were clip ons.
It was a sad day.

I probably could have figured out how to change them to post earrings...
or I could have made something crafty with them.

All I can do is look at them...
Whenever I use something for other than its purpose
I feel guilty. Maybe someone wanted to use these for what they were made for?

So... I am leaving the creative decision up to Etsy!

These are vintage clip on earrings that I am selling on my Etsy Shop.

I have so many and I cannot keep them all to myself.

This one is enamel... AMAZING! :)

Can you believe its almost Christmas?
I love holly... Maybe I'll buy some for Christmas this year...

I think this one may be enamel too...

Unfortunately, some of these earrings don't have couples!
They are lonely and so I found them mismatching friends.

My favorite 60's retro pair!! :)

Autumn earrings...
The leaves here in upstate New York are falling...
And its freezing!

I hope you are all having a lovely autumn!
Getting in the holiday mood watching Christmas movies today!

Grandma's Love... Old Photographs

I love old photographs...
But this is probably my favorite.
This week my grandma passed away and joined my
grandpa.

Isn't it a beautiful picture?

I always thought my grandpa was the most handsome man in the world...

She was a factory worker and he was a mechanic.

She used to tell me about the bright red lipstick she used to wear and the pantyhose.
"The line up the back of your legs had to be straight and perfect... or the look was off
and if we didn't have the money for them, we painted the lines on our legs!"

Grandma was one of 14 and Grandpa was one of 13...
I have a LOT of cousins!
Friends went to her service and asked me who was family...
There were 60+ people there and I said proudly,
"Every single one!"

I love having a big family... The memories, the jokes!

There are five of Grandma's siblings left-
They all talk of their dancing and bowling days from so long ago!

:)

I promise my next post will be about buttons!
Have an awesome Columbus Day!

Sculpture Project! Twine, Balloons & Spray Paint!

Hello! I'm taking a sculpture course this year and wanted to
show you all what I was up to!

I've been sad that I haven't had the chance to blog...

But tie-dye balloons are AMAZING!

I couldn't stop blowing them up!
I used about half of the bag...

We were modeling Henry Moore's reclining figures

I taped all these lovely balloons together in an abstracted body-like figure.

Then I soaked Hemp Jute in Modge Podge!
Messy, messy, messy!

Complete balloon figure...

The jute didn't want to dry! Too cold and damp out!

Almost the finished product! I think I will spray paint it another color...
Perhaps I'll slather it in several acrylic colors! :)

I think the white is boring...

Ooh!! Red, Blue and yellow?

An abstract Odalisque!
